The 2019 World Smart Manufacturing Conference, co – sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, opened grandly in Nanjing on October 18, 2019. Nearly 2,000 representatives from institutions, universities, research institutes, well – known enterprises, exhibitors, and media from both home and abroad attended the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony and the summit forum held on the same day were the highlights of the three – day event. Jiangsu Governor Wu Zhenglong, in his opening speech, emphasized the significance of smart manufacturing in industrial upgrading and high – quality development, stating that Jiangsu would build a “Made in China 2025” sample.

Xin Guobin, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that China’s manufacturing volume had ranked first globally for nine consecutive years since 2010, and intelligent manufacturing in China had entered a new stage of deepening application. He also introduced three aspects of China’s intelligent manufacturing development and three basic paradigms of intelligent manufacturing: digital manufacturing, digital – networked manufacturing, and digital – networked – intelligent manufacturing.

Reinhard Poprawe, the chairman of the International Committee of Aachen University of Technology in Germany, believed that the future of the human industry lies in personalized manufacturing and simplifying industrial data. XCMG Group’s Chairman Wang Min shared the company’s achievements in intelligent transformation, with its intelligent factory data collection and analysis system significantly improving production efficiency and reducing costs.

During the summit forum, experts from various companies discussed topics such as the strategy of industrial intelligence transformation. Shi An from Rockwell Automation Greater China stressed the importance of lean manufacturing concepts in China’s intelligent manufacturing development. Xiong Yi from Schneider Electric China Co., Ltd. and Gu Jiandang from Fenghuang Electric China also shared their insights on intelligent manufacturing goals and digital transformation strategies.

The conference attracted over 300 important guests from more than 20 countries and regions, including 20 academicians and experts. It also drew nearly 2,000 companies to the exhibition. The 2019 World Smart Manufacturing Conference played a crucial role in promoting the development of the global intelligent manufacturing industry, and anticipation is high for the next event.
